When stalled or anxious, try “micro-processing” tasks. Micro-processing simply means doing a tiny bit of a task, such as –

  • create a computer file for a paper
  • draft a difficult email in Word (safer than in email)
  • find the login and password for a website you need to update
  • download a reference to re-read before quoting

Once started with a micro task, you may be able to keep going. Important is to have started.
